Giggles & Grub
Wednesday 3rd April, 9pm
Join us from 9pm, along with top comedians Matt Green, James Cook and Karen Bayley for plenty of lovely grub and a lot of laughs.
Matt Green has been performing stand-up comedy for well over a decade. He has taken six solo shows to the Edinburgh Fringe and has written for and appeared in The News Quiz, Fresh Meat, and Comedy Showcase.
James Cook is known for his laid back attitude, dry sense of humour and sharp tongue. You can often find him performing at clubs such as The Glee, Jongleurs, and Komedia, and he’s a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Karen Bayley’s killer wit, infectious giggle and devastating one-liners make her a comedic force to be reckoned with. She has also recently been supporting Joe Lycett on his recent UK tour.
Wednesday 25th September, 9pm
More comedy fun at The Tavern. This week’s line up includes Ben van der Velde, rising star Alisdair Beckett King, and sing-along extraordinaire, Jay Foreman.
Ben Van der Velde
Ben is a stand-up comedian, actor, improviser and presenter. Over the past few years, has spread joy and nonsense to all four corners of the British Isles as well as Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Norway.
Leicester Mercury Comedian of the year 2017, Alasdair has featured on BBC radio and performed all across the UK.
Jay Foreman is a guitarist and comedian whose unique repertoire falls almost exactly halfway between live music and sit down comedy. His performances flit violently between subtle humour, catchy sing-alongs, and mindless bad taste.
Wednesday 6th November, 9pm
What better way to greet November than yet more top notch comedy, this time from Tiernan Douieb, Yuriko Kotani and, local comedy legend, Jon Wagstaffe.
One of the UK’s most sought after comedy hosts, Tiernan’s fun and friendly, political style of comedy has seen him perform all over the UK and internationally.
Named as ‘one to watch’ by Time Out and winner of the BBC New Comedy Award in 2015, Yuriko has appeared on series 2 of Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central and supported Joe Lycett and Rob Delaney on tour.
